Teaneck, NJ graduate creates a foundation to give back to the community. Kasib Powell grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey where he became involved in organized sports (basketball and baseball) at the age of 5. Kasib was smaller than most of his peers and understood that he would have to work especially hard to stand out amongst them. He made a decision to practice extra hard, listen to his coaches and study the game. Although he was a good baseball player, he recognized his special gift for basketball and decided to focus solely on that sport. By high school Kasib was playing point guard at 5’11. Then something strange happened. He had a growth spurt in the summer after his junior year, growing 3 inches in 1 month. By the end of the growth spurt he was 6’5 and his feet had grown 4 full sizes Kasib has played on many NBA teams and have traveled the world playing basketball. He founded the KP Youth Foundation, which was established to assist Youth in taking Ownership of their lives, Understanding the power of Teamwork and living a Healthy lifestyle
