Services

Programming and Services

CIS provides a "safety net" for at-risk students by coordinating and delivering community resources to students and families at the school site. The scope of current CIS programming includes school-based dropout prevention (PK-12), college access and career readiness services, support for teen mothers balancing the challenges of childcare and high school graduation, and working with youthful offenders to continue their education.

Success Rates

During 2010-2011 school year, CIS provided services to 5,735 students identified as most at risk for school failure in 44 Charlotte-Mecklenburg public school. Of those 5,735 students enrolled in CIS: 88% had an average daily attendance of 90% or greater, 99% stayed in school, and 93% were promoted to the next grade.
