Scholarship FAQ
What is CommonKindness?
CommonKindness makes it easy and fun to save money and support your favorite charities and causes - at no cost to you!
When you visit CommonKindness you can get hundreds of valuable, free coupons, product samples and other money-saving discounts. You can also access free community services available to you in your local community, including public libraries, health care facilities, parent-teacher organizations, clubs, volunteer fire departments, scholarship opportunities, schools, animal shelters and much, much more.
But what makes CommonKindness truly unique is that each time you clip coupons or click discounts with CommonKindness you generate funds to support your favorite non-profit organizations - at no cost to you! Each time you clip a coupon, the brand that posted it pays CommonKindness an advertising fee. CommonKindness shares 20% - 66% of funds received with the non-profit organizations participating on the site.
What if I don't see my favorite charity listed?
Contact your favorite charity or nonprofit organization and ask them to become a member.
How much money goes to my favorite charity?
The charity you select earns an average of $12 per year per regular coupon clipper. So, if you ask 100 friends to save money by clipping coupons with CommonKindness, your favorite charity could receive about $1,200 average per year. If they each told 3 more friends, your favorite charity could earn about $3,600 average per year, and so forth. There is no limit to the amount of funds we will direct to charities.
In addition, each individual can save an average of $1,300 a year using the discounts offered on CommonKindness!
How can I find a cause or charity to work with?
It is easy! Use our search function and enter your zip code. You will find many interesting non-profit organizations in your area.

Is there any minimum GPA required for the scholarship?
There are no GPA requirements, but students should clearly be in good standing in their educational program.
Over what period of time am I required to work with my non-profit to qualify?
There are no set hours required by CommonKindness. We look at the overall success of the campaign. Students should check with their school advisors if they are looking to fulfill hourly requirements for community service programs mandated by their school.
Can I recruit supporters from friends and family or do they all have to come from my charity's existing support base?
We recommend outreach to friends, family, and the existing support base of the non-profit. Encouraging people to save money should not be exclusive but rather, all-inclusive. The overall goal is to create a campaign that expands the number of people regularly clipping coupons to support the charity you are working with.
Am I responsible to follow-up with my non-profit's donors to verify that they are clipping coupons regularly?
To promote a sustainable campaign usually involves encouraging the website's users to spend at least 15 minutes a week clipping coupons and exploring the brand discounts. CommonKindness gives students the necessary tools (link to toolkit) to develop a successful campaign.
Can I work with the same non-profit for more than one award year?
Under most circumstances, each new campaign should involve a new non-profit. Special cases will be taken under consideration to repeat a completed campaign.
Will this satisfy the community service requirement that my school/college has in place?
CommonKindness cannot speak for the educational institution. School advisors should be consulted to be sure the program satisfies their requirements for community service.
Can my family/friends assist me in recruiting supporters for my non-profit?
CommonKindness encourages outreach to all parties who can benefit from saving the average of $1,300 each year that the website's users will enjoy.
To which categories of post-secondary education can I apply my scholarship?
Any recognized post-secondary program, whether in an accredited institution or not, is eligible.
